Your SAT math score decides which universities open the door. If that score is lower than it should be, you still have time to fix it — and it is usually easier than parents expect.

US Elite Mathematics Tutoring is the High Desert's math specialist. We do one thing and we do it better than anyone here: we find the exact gaps costing your child points, and we close them. Watch Mr. T solve a real SAT question below, then decide for yourself.

Your first session is free — there is nothing to lose

Every new student gets a free demo session. No payment, no contract, no pressure. In that one session we test your child, find the exact weak topics, and show you the plan. If you like it, you continue with us. If you don't, you walk away having learned exactly where the gaps are. Either way you win.

Live far away? That is not a problem. We teach online across California and nationwide, with the same teacher and the same results.

SAT math is not the same as school math

A student can have an A in Algebra 2 and still score in the 400s on SAT math. In class, a test covers one chapter and your child knows what is coming. On the SAT the questions are mixed, the wording is deliberately confusing, and the clock is tight.

The SAT is also cumulative. It reaches back to skills from seventh and eighth grade. If fractions or negative numbers were shaky back then, those gaps show up again on test day.

The four areas that cost the most points

  1. Linear equations and systems. The biggest chunk of SAT math. Students lose points translating the sentence into math, not solving it.

  2. Ratios, percentages and units. These look easy and get missed constantly.

  3. Reading graphs and tables. The math is simple. The trap is pulling the wrong number or missing the units.

  4. Answering the wrong question. The problem asks for 2x, the student solves for x and bubbles 7. The work was right, the answer was wrong. This alone can cost 30 to 60 points.

Fix for that last one: before calculating anything, circle what the question is actually asking for. Two seconds, easy points on every section.

A simple six-week plan

  • Week 1: One full timed practice test, to find the gaps.

  • Weeks 2 and 3: Repair the two weakest topics. Only two. Reviewing everything is why most students see no improvement.

  • Week 4: Timing drills, so pacing becomes automatic.

  • Week 5: Second practice test, then repair what is still leaking points.

  • Week 6: Light review and rest. Cramming the week of the test lowers scores.
